Macbeth Act 3 Scene 5 Essay
This scene takes place in a ââ¬Ëdeserted areaââ¬â¢ where there is thunder which also parallels with act 1 scene 1 where the witches meet each other with thunder and lightning. The scene establishes the mood of darkness and violence and also creates suspense and eerie atmosphere due to the presence of witches. It begins with Hecateââ¬â¢s monolog where she disapproved the witches for meddling with Macbethââ¬â¢s future; this passage foreshadows the appearance of the witches to Macbeth along with his downfall. Her anger is shown at the opening of the scene with the use of three rhetorical questions. In the first rhetoric question, Hecate criticizes the witches in a deeming way. In the second rhetoric question the alliteration ââ¬Ëtrade and trafficââ¬â¢ emphasizes her upset tone and in the third rhetoric question she asserts her superiority over the witches ââ¬Å"mistress of your charms, the close contriver of all harmsâ⬠. Through the metaphor, ââ¬Ëwayward sonââ¬â¢ Hecate gives clues that Macbeth attempted to defy the witches prophecy by trying to destroy Banquoââ¬â¢s line. It also shows his self-centered ambition, and he is called a wayward son because he is not a genuine devotee of witchcraft and only aims to the profit by it. The lines by Hecate give a clear hint that Macbethââ¬â¢s reliance on the witches is misplaced and that he is doomed. After rebuking the witches for the past errors Hecate commands them to ââ¬Å"make amendsâ⬠of their folly action. Hecate gives out a feeling of betrayal through the use of her language. She uses rhetorical questions, rhyming couplet, and enjambment which disguises her underline message. Hecate also asks the witches to help her manipulate Macbethââ¬â¢s emotions and plans to create illusions which will lure Macbeth into a false sense of security. Hecateââ¬â¢s speech is ironical when she says that the witches tempted Macbeth by saying riddles when they actually prophesied to Macbeth. Euphemism is used in the terms glory of art and great business to refer to the witches plan of destroying Macbeth. The great business also refers to the major illusion that they are going to destroy Macbeth. Imagery is used in the scene were a vivid description of the scheme of the witches plan is described ââ¬Å"there hangs a vapââ¬â¢rous drop profound; Iââ¬â¢ll catch it ere it come to ground;â⬠Hecate intends to lead Macbeth to his doom and distraction by magic spells which will conjure up powerful apparitions that will be able to lead Macbeth to his ultimate doom. As a result Macbeth will defy fate and death and will ignore all warnings of wisdom and fear of consequences ââ¬Å"security is mortalsââ¬â¢ chiefest enemyâ⬠, Hecate says that overconfidence is the greatest enemy of man as by depriving of his own wisdom and making him complacent, it sends him to the path of ruin and destruction. These captivating lines encapsulates the fascinating rituals of which craft.

Out of Time
Out of Time is a poem written by Kenneth Slessor and is one of his personally favorite poems to date he has written. Time is personified in this poem, but also associated with the natural phenomenon of water, or vessels such as yachts seen on Slessorââ¬â¢s favorite location, Sydney Harbor (which is itself personified). Personification gives immediacy to an abstraction such as time, and elicits evaluative responses which are more arresting than an address to an abstraction could ever be. So Slessor finds that Time ââ¬Ëenfolds me in its bedââ¬â¢, but ââ¬â in the next line ââ¬â it is ââ¬Ëthe bony knifeââ¬â¢ which ââ¬Ëruns me through. Seeing time everywhere, he notes that it flows through all things and his heart rebukes him: ââ¬Å"Time flows, not you. â⬠Kenneth Slessor constantly reminds us during the first part of the poem that time itself cannot be slowed down or stopped; it is just a force that never stops or runs out. He seems pessimistic about the subject of Time though, as he constantly keeps repeating himself which is why he chose the title for the poem as, ââ¬ËOut of Timeââ¬â¢ because no matter what, Time will never stop for anyone or anything. He is the pawn of Time whose mastery is complete and indifferent to his emotions: it ââ¬Ëdrills me, drives through bone and veinââ¬â¢, just as ââ¬Ëwater bends the seaweeds in the sea. ââ¬â¢ Time may be cruelly dominant, but the speakerââ¬â¢s view of himself is worse: ââ¬Ëthe tide goes over but the weeds remainââ¬â¢. Yet the engagement with Time and its indifference to us. In both senses, we are, ââ¬ËOut of Timeââ¬â¢: that is, at once part of its scheme, but then abandoned by it; and also (as in music) out of kilter with its rhythms and purposes. Contrastingly, in the second section, Time is now seen at a disadvantage (which, again, is given immediacy by personification). Time, always flowing, cannot abide in the lovely moments it affords. Ever changing, he is subservient to ââ¬Ëto-morrowââ¬â¢ and deaf to the entreaties of such as ââ¬Ëbeautyââ¬â¢, urging him to be ââ¬Ëstillââ¬â¢. This is his ââ¬Ëfateââ¬â¢. Slessorââ¬â¢s execration of Time intensifies as the stanzas proceed, as he proceeds himself through a depressing sequence of ââ¬Ëdead nowââ¬â¢s and heresââ¬â¢: ââ¬ËHe keeps appointment with a million yearsââ¬â¢. In contrast, by implication, our limited human experience now begins to appear preferable: ââ¬ËI and the moment laugh, and let him go, / Leaning against his golden undertow. ââ¬â¢ Thesis and antithesis anticipate synthesis. Slessorââ¬â¢s threefold ordering of the poem has the structure of an argument. Accordingly, the third section celebrates what the first section denigrated: the moment out of time that liberates us from our time-bound world. Cleverly, Slessor takes a word separate from language to celebrate this escape from ordinariness. The speaker, so critical of himself earlier, now celebrates himself as ââ¬Ëpartââ¬â¢ of a dispensation that is ââ¬Ëfleshless and ageless, changeless and made freeâ⬠. His heart, in a rhetorical question, inquires: ââ¬ËFool, would you leave this country? ââ¬â¢ But, as the first word suggest, it is not finally a rhetorical query, as the poem, in closing, returns to its beginning. Timeââ¬â¢s ever-flowing processes cannot be resisted: ââ¬Ë I was taken by the suck of seaââ¬â¢, and mortality is grimly recovered is grimly recovered, along with the original imagery of the first section in a rhyming couplet that is too pat: ââ¬Ë The gulls go down, the body dies and rots, / And Time flows past them like a hundred yachts. In my opinion this is one of my favorite poems of Kenneth Slessor so far, as all 3 parts interconnect with each other which allows for very deep and meaningful analysis. He also discusses and describe that time cannot be controlled or stopped, it only flowââ¬â¢s on which most people and including me, can instantly relate to.

Dystopian Society, V for Vendetta
V for Vendetta History has a tendency to repeat itself. One of humanityââ¬â¢s most popular ways of getting its point across is through violence. When words are no longer enough to argue a point, human casualties not only directly solve the problem, but symbolically send a message to all those affected as well. Just as the American colonies fought against the British for Freedom when their voice was no longer heard, and just as the Islamic extremists used terrorism to send an evil message to America, both V and Chancellor Sutler used violence to gain a voice in a world of chaos. In the film V for Vendetta the viewer is welcomed to a dystopia in which the government not only controls its citizens, but removes their privacy, civil rights, general freedoms, and even regulates what types of foods, jobs, and materials one is allowed. As the plot moves along, Chancellors Sutlerââ¬â¢s actions to reach this dystopia are revealed. His use of biological warfare against the ââ¬Å"weakâ⬠minorities of England was not only violent, but cruel, heartless, and sickening. His intentions were not for the well being of his country, but for his own selfish greed and control. Chancellor Sutler was able to take advantage of the chaos, uncertainty, and fear within the world and manipulate the lives of his people with lies and a nonexistent hope. On the other hand, V took the fear that still existed in peoplesââ¬â¢ minds, but helped them to realize they shouldnââ¬â¢t be afraid. In his plot to regain control on November Fifth he did made what could be his most important move. He gave a nationally broadcasted speech to the citizens of his country, exposing and reminding the citizens of England what their government was doing to them. He helped them to recover the fact that this new life, this life that they had become accustomed to, had considered normal, was not in fact a country in which ââ¬Å"England would prevail,â⬠but rather a country which needed a face, and an idea. V slowly created a chaos, but not a chaos for the people, one for the government. V was able to turn the tables and remind those of popular sovereignty, power in numbers. These actions were all peaceful, although V did find it necessary to directly take hold of the source of the countries disguised turmoil. His murders and assassinations of the people responsible sent not another message of fear, but a message of true hope, and a change for the better. Although both Vââ¬â¢s and Sutlerââ¬â¢s intentions of harm and hope were total opposites, itââ¬â¢s hard to deny the fact that their actions were similar. While V targets the government and Chancellor Sutler destroys the nationââ¬â¢s security, both use violence to let those uninformed hear what couldnââ¬â¢t be heard before. Many argue that two wrongs donââ¬â¢t make a right, and killing for killing is unethical. So in order to fully understand the plot of the movie, you have to take a front seat to the hypocrisy of it all, and understand that whatever force is exerted, another force of equal value is created. Itââ¬â¢s the balancing act of life. V may have disrupted the ideals that we as humans are given to believe, but he was only fighting the fight that was inevitably going to be fought. The movie not only gives us a glimpse to the potential evil and manipulative people of the world, but also helps us to understand that sometimes violence is necessary. When actions are so terrible, so negative, and so extreme that people lose sight of right and wrong, and learn to accept the unacceptable, death is the only real verdict for some. V let England know that people like this would not be tolerated. Although violence was used, the ideas and symbolism were the true importance, and ideas are bulletproof.

Risk and war Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Risk and war - Essay Example The interpretation one can take of this game on personal finance comes in making conservative moves throughout the course of play. Just like a person lacking the funds to make large investments, those first beginning in the game should not make bold moves across the globe. Rather, diversifying in a few key areas, such as Australia or South America will offer bonuses of two extra armies, which will allow players to use the extra income to expand their holdings into investments overseas, such as Africa or Asia. This is where primary, secondary, and tertiary objectives come into play, which can also be thought of as short and long-term goals. After several attempts to win without a concrete strategy, the author began to conduct some research so as to conquer his opponents. This is where the concept of finances came to be found. The bonus armies at the start of each turn are oneââ¬â¢s income, and where they are placed is asset allocation (Pascale, 2011). For those who spend all of the ir armies away in battle, destruction is near because the carelessness of one is the short-term strategy of another. In order to win, a strategy to gain and hold Australia was enacted, and another to expand into and gain control of Asia. This resulted in one of two ways for those who were still left on the board. They either attempted to cooperate with one another or they suffered the destruction of a force with far superior resources. The one result that did not occur was a smaller army siding with the larger one to guarantee survival, which is much more likely to occur in the real world of global domination, also referring to conflict, which occurs when differing forces, governments, or parties face off with one another as a result of discord that often relates to world affairs (Kegley, and Blanton, 376-377). Conflict was not actually the result of anything other than beginning to play the game since the object is to destroy each other while obtaining more land for oneself. Parlay ing off of this, one may have engaged in unplanned conflict if their monopoly on a continent was lost, such as a player making a strike from Mexico into South America. While the previous owner of the South American continent may not have wanted to go into battle with this particular army, he was perfectly content to do so in order to gain back what he had lost so as to maintain his position and have a better opportunity to grow his forces. Cooperation always fell between two parties who could not stand to fight on their own since doing so would result in heavier losses. However, by pooling their resources, they stood a slight chance of being able to bring down a far superior power if they agreed to do so before the hammer that came down had not gained so much weight that the momentum of its strikes were crushing rather than just painful. One historical event that seemed to play out is that there was never peace in the Middle East, which should not be entirely surprising as it is not only bordered by six territories in three continents, but also because for a person wanting control of Asia it is a necessary territory, and for those holding Africa, there is more security in pushing the opposition back. For any player wanting to get to Australia so as to gain control, or take it away from

Hitler - Essay Example f races (including the Jews), he ran away to Munich where he stayed until the outbreak of World War 1 where he voluntarily enrolled to become a soldier. He therefore joined World War 1 as a soldier with the Germany Army and fought in several wars. Other than receiving awards at the war (he was awarded two iron crosses which was a mark of bravery (Haugen 103)), he also received injuries including serious one on the thigh which led him to be admitted for two months and this was followed by the first bout of blindness as a result of a mustard gas (both bouts of blindness were temporary however). His heart hardened in the military and he gained confidence which was useful later on when he decided to join politics. His road to politics was built from the defeat of the Germany army in the way and also the exploitation of the detrimental economic, social and political conditions in that nation. Hitler is renowned for his excellent oratorical skills and it is this skill that enabled him to j oin politics and rise through the different leadership positions (Haugen 54). His good oratorical skills combined with his anti-Semitism nature and the quest for a strong government is what made him be discharged from the army and he started working for the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP) gathering audiences and crowds to defer with and criticize the government and give speeches against the Jews and Marxist (which he both detested). One of these occasions was the rise to become the party chairman of National Socialist German Workers Party replacing Dexter who was the very same person who introduced him to the party in the first place. His quest for power is what made him organize a coup (a fact that is not known to many people). Hitler served a prison term in Landsberg prison after attempting a coup (Beer Hall Putsch) to overthrow the German government but which failed. The prison term was supposed to be for five years but later he was released only after nine months (after the Supreme Court of Bavaria pardoned him) and he then decided to take over the government legally. It is while in prison that Hitler wrote a book about his struggles while in prison and they were published in a book called Mein Kampf.

Investigating the impact of Information Technology on a career or Term Paper
Investigating the impact of Information Technology on a career or profession of Healthcare - Term Paper Example Requirement for researchers to facilitate practitioners recognize how information technology can advance hospitalsââ¬â¢ productivity is evident. As people are becoming more and more aged, population is becoming a challenge in social and economic sector worldwide. In the United States, people with age over 65 are expected to hit 70 million by 2030. This figure is doubled as compared to 35 million in 2000. Health care in the context of Information technology has become an obsession globally. These increments are been observer globally. The old aged people having diseases, requiring constant monitoring and medication and need to visit the hospitals and clinics on a regular basis. If the disease is identified at the initial stage by health monitoring techniques, the quality of life will be improved and many lives can be saved. At the same time, investigating the disease can reduce the cost and resources which are utilized for the treatment of a patient. The cost related to health care is also an emerging problem (Durresi et al. 211-218). For example, expenditures in the United States will grow to 15.9% for the health care from the GDP of $2.6 trillion by 2010 ("Keynote "). The Research and education along with the clinical practice is the key element facilitating the healthcare realm. The use of online screening tools can be accessed from the Internet is increasing. People are keener to find information regarding health and diseases from the Internet instead of visiting the doctor, which is a long and time consuming process (Koivunen et al. 1141-1150). The usability of computers systems is always an issue. The staff is not motivational to use computing devices installed in hospitals and medical resources.
